Kent Wedding Venues

Are you looking for somewhere special for a wedding? Then look no further than ABode Canterbury. The beautifully restored function suites provide the perfect venue for an elegant wedding reception or private party. The Archbishop’s Palace, Maidstone
The Archbishops Palace was formally the fourteenth century residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury. The building still retains many of its original historic features. It is situated on the banks of the River Medway in the centre of the County Town.
The River Medway with riverside walks bounds the Archbishops Palace to the rear. Some couples choose to arrive at the venue by boat or river bus. The Millennium Footbridge across the river leads to extensive parking facilities in the Lock Meadow complex a short walk away.
To the front of the palace, the walled Apothecarys Garden offers a secluded and peaceful area for photographs. The garden uses a cornucopia of herbs to form an unusual and interesting background.
Couples arrive in cars or carriages along the impressive gravelled driveway leading to the magnificent front façade of the Palace. Well-maintained lawns and flowerbeds surround the driveway, and ornamental hedging provides a natural green backdrop for group photography.

The Beacon House, Whitstable – www.thebeaconhouse.co.uk
Built at the turn of last century, The Beacon House stands above a natural promontory ‘The Street’ that stretches out to sea half a mile or so at low tide. The beacon, which stood in its garden, warned sailors of the perils below. The house has a New England feel to it with its wide wooden frontage, distinctive verandah and wrap-around decking. Many original features remain: the tongue and groove finish in the kitchen; arts and crafts sitting room with open fireplace and doors leading out to the deck and the beach; panelled wooden staircase leading to galleried hall; five bedrooms and study all with extensive sea views.The Beacon House is minutes from The Hotel Continental and close to Whitstable’s culinary delights, quirky shops, swimming pool, yacht club and harbour. The Beacon House has been featured in The Observer, The New York Times and Vogue and has been the setting for numerous fashion, lifestyle, interiors and food photo shoots as well as a short film by The National Gallery.

Boys Hall Manor in Ashford Kent was originally built in 1616 by the Boys family who had previously been known as De Bois, having originally landed in England from France at the time of the Norman Conquest. The family lived in the Hall for many years before it was finally transformed into one of the most stunning hotels in Kent.

The Manor at Howfield was created in 1182, and a small part of the building where the restaurant is situated is thought to date back to around 1350. It has been a family home for centuries, and has only relatively recently become a hotel. High Rocks in Tunbridge Wells is a great venue, with many different sized ceremony rooms so able to cater for any size of wedding. The gardens are lovely but the main attraction of the High Rocks are the rocks themselves. Huge slabs of rock tower above and they make for a fantastic backdrop to the wedding photos. There are caves, crevices and bridges aplenty and provide many creative opportunities for the couple and their photographer. The steam railway runs by the hotel and there’s a stop if you and your guest want to arrive in some style.

Knowle Country House is a fine Gothic Victorian mansion set in three acres of English gardens and orchards. The house, built in 1840 by the rector of Higham, is the idyllic venue for a Kentish wedding. The gazebo in our rose garden is recommended for summer weddings.

Recorded in the Doomsday book, Knowlton Court was the house of Bishop Odo of Bayeux, brother of William the Conqueror. The oldest part of the present house in Elizabethan and the front facade is Queen Anne (1715). Knowlton Court is currently a family home.
An enchanting half mile avenue of lime trees provides a magnificent and romantic approach to the grand entrance gates and courtyard with its wonderful circular lawn and steps leading to the Great Hall.

The Orangery at Turkey Mill is a fantastic place to hold your wedding service. the bridal party arrive over a bridge from the far bank over the stream, making for a very grand and romantic entrance. After the service, drinks are normally served on the terrace with the group photos taking place here with the stream and gardens as a fabulous backdrop. Winters Barns are beautiful Kentish barns set in a tranquil oasis a stone’s throw from the centre of Canterbury.
One barn hosts the ceremony and becomes the dance area at night, this adjoins the large bar and reception area leading on to the other beautiful barn for your wedding breakfast. There are modern toilets, kitchens and a dressing room within the barns.
A secluded enclosed garden with a pond is situated to the side of the barn and makes an ideal setting for stunning photographic opportunities.
